Review
Several people had told me to read The Words, and I get it.
Thie first part of the book was about Lennon, a fat nerdy girl that I related to instantly. I loved her from the beginning. I liked Phoenix. Well, I liked high school Phoenix. I appreciated that he saw something more in Lennon than anyone else.
While Lennon remained a fantastic character throughout the book, all the work to get me to like Phoenix went down the tubes when we meet rockstar Phoenix. He was awful, and though I was still rooting for him and Lennon, I also wouldn’t have blamed her for giving up on him completely.
Phoenix is pretty terrible and the fact that most of the conflict could have been solved if he had just asked Lennon were the reasons this didn’t get a five-star from me. I felt like Phoenix could have groveled a little more. The story was beautifully written, and I was immensely entertained by this story! I am really hoping the other characters in this series get their own books!
