Synopsis

They say that every tragic hero has a fatal flaw, a secret sin, a tiny stitch sewn into his future since birth. And here I am. My sins are no longer secret. My flaws have never been more fatal. And I’ve never been closer to tragedy than I am now.

I am a man who loves, a man whose love demands much in return. I am a king, a king who was foolish enough to build a kingdom on the bones of the past. I am a husband and a lover and a soldier and a father and a president.
And I will survive this.

Long live the king.

Review

It took me longer than I’d like to admit to finish the New Camelot series. After the emotions in American Prince, I had to take a little break before picking up American King.

American King is told mainly from Ash’s point of view, and I enjoyed getting to see the inside of his head. Of course, we already knew the love story, but getting this other perspective helped me understand Ash and the other characters a little better. Ash was such an interesting character trying to make everyone happy, and he seemed so isolated. I felt for him throughout the series but especially in this book.

This book is also the last in the series, and I think I put off reading this because I was sad to see these characters go. These books were so well written. I loved getting to know these characters. Seeing all the struggles they had been through, they all deserved a happy ending!

Greer remains my favorite character, and in this book especially, she gets her confidence. I loved the way she handled everything that has thrown at her. I also loved how the three of them handled their relationships even when they weren’t a three. They all respected their relationship as a whole and the relationships between each other, and I liked that no one was really forced to choose even in the tough times.

I was very happy with how this book ended, and I love Sierra Simone’s wiring!
