Depravity by Jacob Chance

Synopsis

When I was asked to babysit for a single father, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Two months with Mr. Tall, Dark, and Broody didn’t seem like a bad trade-off for the money he would pay me.

As the weeks go by, our attraction grows and I realize what a concerned and caring father he is. And he learns that not every woman is untrustworthy like his ex-wife.

We both agree to walk away from our fling when I leave for college at the end of summer.

And reluctantly, we do …

Until my first day of classes when he crashes back into my world. I’m Professor Decker. Welcome to King University.”

Review

Depravity tackles quite a few tropes, and I think that hindered this book.  It’s an age gap romance that starts as a single dad/nanny romance and becomes a student-professor romance.

While I liked Miles and Sophie well enough, I didn’t quite get them as a couple.  It was like one minute they hated each other and the next moment they were in love.  I didn’t believe that Sophie and Miles were so in love.  I also found the story overly angsty.  It was like Miles didn’t actually know he loved Sophie until they really couldn’t be together. I honestly didn’t really see what was so great about Miles other than a good dad.

The story wasn’t bad, it was entertaining, and Sophie was a fun character to read about, but I just expected more from it.  There were a few twists that I didn’t see coming, though it just added even more drama and was handled almost too quickly.

I will check out more of Jacob’s Chance’s books, but this one wasn’t my favorite.
