Her Soul to Take
Title: Her Soul to Take
Series Number: 1

Synopsis

Leon
I earned my reputation among magicians for a reason: one wrong move and you’re dead. Killer, they called me, and killing is what I’m best at.
Except her.
The one I was supposed to take, the one I should have killed – I didn’t.
The cult that once controlled me wants her, and I’m not about to lose my new toy to them.

Rae
I’ve always believed in the supernatural. Hunting for ghosts is my passion, but summoning a demon was never part of the plan. Monsters are roaming the woods, and something ancient – something evil – is waking up and calling my name.
I don’t know who I can trust, or how deep this darkness goes.
All I know is my one shot at survival is the demon stalking me, and he doesn’t just want my body – he wants my soul.

Review

I decided to pick up Her Soul to Take this month because It seemed like a great October read, and I was right!
Her Soul to Take had demons, witches, grimoires, and lots of steam.

First and foremost, Leon is a demon, so he’s not a great guy. That being said, I didn’t really think he was all that bad. I have read many dark romances where the hero was way worse than Leon. I actually really liked Leon. He was charming in a naughty way, and I totally understood why Rae fell for him. Rae is a typical romance heroine. I really respected things about her, but other times I wondered why she was making bad decisions.

The story was interesting if a little lacking. I would have liked a little more history about the town’s founding families and why Rae was being targeted. In addition, the book focused mainly on the relationship between Rae and Leon and less on the actual story. I would have liked the book to explore that a little more, but I also understand that this is a romance, so it does make sense that the couple is the main focus.

Overall this was an entertaining read that was perfect to read in October!
