Synopsis

I made my choice. I took the hard way out. Now all of our fates are riding on the dice I’m about to throw and luck never was on our side.

I was whole once, with my boys in this slice of paradise we’d carved out for ourselves, but in the time that we were parted we grew up. Grew apart. And as much as I might have yearned to reclaim that girl with the sand between her toes and the sun on her cheeks, it’s time I admit that I spent too long in the shadows to ever truly be her again.

My heart may be breaking for the men I left behind, but I know that I can make that pain count for something, because I’m no fool believing the pretty promises of a mad man.

No. I’m the assassin he just opened his fortress to. And now that I’m inside, I intend to repay him for every moment of suffering he has inflicted upon me and my boys.

Shawn Mackenzie thought he killed me once upon a time. Now this dead girl is back to return the favour.

Review

I shouldn’t be surprised anymore, but the ending of Paradise Lagoon was pretty dark and hopeless. I’ve read a lot of the sisters’ books, so I know what to expect, but this one was well a lot.

Some things happened in this book that I thought were a little bit of a waste. They didn’t really move the plot forward, and it seemed to be more for shock value than the actual story. That being said, the story was great, and I can tell it’s heading toward the home stretch. We finally start to see what this group once was.

One thing. I loved that you don’t often see in reverse harems is Fox holding out. Because it makes total sense that an alpha male wouldn’t just jump right into sharing the woman he loves. I respected his arguments. Though I’m relatively confident that Fox will realize he will take Rogue in any way he can have her, I liked that he was true to his character and didn’t just immediately join the harem. Full disclosure Fox is my favorite, so I let him get away with stuff I probably won’t let others get away with.

We get some answers in Paradise Lagoon as well. This book doesn’t have a ton of mysteries, but I’ve been dying to know what’s in the box! The characters are still great though I need Maverick to be less Maverick for like 10 mins so people can get along. This book makes perfect sense as the penultimate book, and I can’t wait to read the final one in the series.
