Synopsis

Once Upon A Time,

there was a king who passed.

He left behind two sons,

one beloved and one outcast.

The older of the two was set to take the throne,

but before he could he had to find a queen to call his own.

The younger one was known to be unruly and unhinged.

The chosen queen was warned to keep far away from him.

Beautiful and cunning, in the light is where she stayed.

But late at night, it was the shadowed lands in which she played.

Mistakes were made and secrets forged;

forgetting duty and her sense.

And while the new king had her hand,

her heart belonged to the scarred prince.

Review

Scarred is full of anti-heroes and political intrigue with just the right amount of steam. So yeah, I loved it.
I loved this book because it wasn’t just the male lead who was on the grey side, but the female lead as well. This dynamic was terrific, and I loved that while Tristain and Sara’s chemistry was undeniable, they were also very wary of each other. And not just because Sara was marrying Tristan’s brother.
Scarred is told from each of their points of view, which is my preferred style, but I think it worked for this book in particular. Both Sara and Tristan had so many secrets and layers that it was important to get in their minds. This book is not a retelling, more of an inspired by, but Scar is one of my all-time favorite movie villains, and this book certainly did him justice. Tristan was fantastic, intelligent, cunning, and sexy. Sara was his perfect counterpart. I loved her calm demeanor and her loyalty.
Scarred was such a fun read, and while it wasn’t as steamy as Hooked, there is still a lot of steam and kinks in this one!
